Trends to look out for this fall

Writer's picture: Sydney Daigle Sydney Daigle

As the air starts get chill, jean shorts and tank tops retire to our closets. The hardest thing for me during the fall and winter is staying warm and fashionable. I have recently kickstarted my middle school Pinterest obsession back into high gear, and it has provided me with lots of inspiration for this seasonal change. Here are three styles that I think will be popular in the upcoming months.

  1. Trouser Pants : I bought my first pair of trousers back in December of last year, but I never really wore them, mostly because I had nowhere to wear them. This style of pants is all over Pinterest. They are styled with oversized sweatshirts, skin-tight long sleeves, and matching jackets. I am personally loving neutral-toned pants, such as beige and brown. Brown is coming back, and I absolutely love it. Trouser pants are comfortable to wear in your daily life and sharp enough to wear for business. They are a universal style and the perfect addition to your closet.

2. Sweater vest : I know. I know. Fashion and sweater vest do not seem like they would be in the same sentence. I am personally scarred by them from my middle school uniform. (Those vests did not look good on anyone). However, fashion icon Emma Chamberlain has posted her wearing this style on her Instagram. Fashion followers took after her and started incorporating this trend into their wardrobe. I have mostly seen simple, diamond patterns with one or two colors. I think these pieces can be cute when styled over a long-sleeve top.

3. Leather Jackets : Back from the 90s, I think black leather jackets are making their comeback. It is no secret that every fashion trends comes for a second wave. This fall, it is time for leather jackets to shine. Don't think biker jackets though. Think Forbes magazine. These jackets are not cropped or gaudy with tons of silver buckles and details. Longer, shiny and simple jackets are starting to enter the fashion scope. They are usually collared with a simple pocket or two. I think this style is cute and practical. Sometimes, I feel like jackets ruin an outfit, but in the fall and winter, you need to stay bundled. Leather jackets are the perfect solution.
